Keyword-based querying for XML and RDF
نویسندگان
چکیده
Various query languages for Web and Semantic Web data, both for practical use and as an area of research in the scientific community, have emerged in recent years. At the same time, the broad adoption of the internet where keyword search is used in many applications, e.g. search engines, has familiarized casual users with using keyword queries to retrieve information on the internet. Unlike this easy-to-use querying, traditional query languages require knowledge of the language itself as well as of the data to be queried. Keyword-based query languages for XML and RDF bridge the gap between the two, aiming at enabling simple querying of semi-structured data, which is relevant e.g. in the context of the emerging Semantic Web. This article presents an overview of the field of keyword querying for XML and RDF. متن کاملRDF Querying in Xcerpt
A versatile query language provides capabilities of querying ordinary XML based data as well as Semantic Web data and thus builds a bridge between both worlds. Xcerpt, a pattern-based deductive query and transformation language for semi-structured data, shows to be a perfectly appropriate candidate to become such a versatile query language. This thesis investigates and develops new language con...
متن کاملQuerying Embedded RDF Data with XML Technology: A Feasibility Study
XML has become the de facto standard for representing and accessing data on the Web. At the same time RDF is becoming more and more popular for representing metadata. While RDF also has an XML-based syntax, storage and query technologies for the two formats are not compatible due to differences in the data model. This is a potential problem when trying to query data that combine XML data with R...
متن کاملTowards Data-Integration on the Semantic Web: Querying RDF with Xcerpt
Although RDF is serialized using XML, the many possible syntactic forms and the need for inferencing make it difficult to query RDF using existing XML query languages. Numerous new query languages for RDF with built-in knowledge about the semantics of particular inferencing formalisms like RDF Schema and OWL have been proposed or are currently under development. However most, if not all, are sp...
متن کاملIntegrating XQuery-enabled SCORM XML Metadata Repositories into an RDF-based E-Learning P2P Network
Edutella is an RDF-based E-Learning P2P network that is aimed to accommodate heterogeneous learning resource metadata repositories in a P2P manner and further facilitate the exchange of metadata between these repositories based on RDF. Whereas Edutella provides RDF metadata repositories with a quite natural integration approach, XML metadata repositories have to overcome considerable incompatib...
